Your toes are versatile: perhaps much more versatile than you have given them credit for!
They arch and curl, spread and grip. They help us balance. They press off the ground to launch us into the next step. We can even pick a pen up off the floor with our toes.
When people do not have use of their hands, they have found that they can use their feet and toes for complex activities like driving, painting and writing. Jessica Cox, a woman born with no arms, even learned how to fly a plane with her feet.
Isn’t it wonderful how spectacular our toes can be?
Today’s massage will help you stretch out your toes and regain some of that sensitivity and function.
Time needed: 5 minutes
How to massage between your toes to improve your balance and sensitivity:
- Hold your first and second toes with each hand.
- Scissor them up and down.
- Spread them wide and circle them around.
- Repeat with your other toes.
Allow your tissues to warm and soften. Take your time. Start with a small scissoring action before increasing your range of motion. Can you sense the influence of this movement up into your foot? Massage can create a relaxing ripple effect throughout your body. Enjoy creating happy memories with your toes!
